Ancient Medicine for Modern Living

What is Ayurvedic Medicine ?

In sanskrit, “Ayur” means life et “Veda” is knowledge. Ayurveda, “the science of life”, is a 5000-year-old traditional medicine system finding its roots in the Indian subcontinent. It aims to maintain harmony between the body, the mind and our living environment in order to cultivate an optimal state of health.

How Ayurveda can help you ?

Ayurveda is based on a simple idea: every person is unique, and so is their health. Rather than treating an isolated symptom, this approach seeks to understand its root cause in order to bring about lasting, meaningful change.

The essence of ayurveda, from the universe to the individual

Ayurveda is based on the principle that everything in the universe, including yourself, is made up of five elements:

Ether/Space, Air, Fire, Water and Earth

The elements are not to be taken literally: they symbolically represent the states of matter. Space is the void that contains matter, Air is movement, Fire is transformation, Water is fluidity and Earth is solidity.

VATA: Ether + Air

PITTA: Fire + Water

KAPHA: Water + Earth

From the alliance of these elements comes life, whose intelligence is orchestrated by the doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. The three doshas are present in a proportion unique to each living being, from the moment of conception in utero: this is known as Prakriti, the constitution innate to each individual.

An inadequate diet or lifestyle, or other external or karmic factors, can lead to a state of imbalance called Vrikrti. The aim of all Ayurvedic therapy is to maintain Prakriti, the state of balance, or to re-establish it if Vrikriti is present.

Personalised Guidance

Traditional Ayurvedic massages using warm medicated oils, carefully selected according to your ayurvedic profile and your therapeutic goals, to restore doshic balance, nourish the body’s tissues, and support the elimination of toxins.

During an Ayurvedic consultation, we assess your state of health and daily habits in order to set therapeutic objectives together, providing you with personalised recommendations on nutrition, lifestyle and natural remedies.

This therapeutic approach to yoga targets the doshas that need to be harmonised according to your constitution and any imbalances you may have, while adapting to the rhythm of the day, the seasons and the different stages of your life.

Examples of Conditions Ayurveda can Support

Before a condition becomes fully established, the body often sends warning signs: fatigue that persists despite rest, digestive difficulties, recurring pain, poor sleep quality. Ayurveda addresses these imbalances, whether at an early stage or already developed into a chronic condition, by considering the person as a whole rather than an isolated symptom.

Below are some examples of conditions commonly supported. This list is not exhaustive, and any health concern can be approached through Ayurveda.

  • Women’s health: pregnancy, perimenopause, menopause
  • Gynecological issues: endometriosis, amenorrhea, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), painful or irregular periods, fertility issues
  • Skin conditions: eczema, psoriasis, acne, dermatitis
  • Digestive disorders: irritable bowel syndrome, bloating, acid reflux, chronic constipation
  • Inflammatory conditions and chronic pain: fibromyalgia, arthritis, osteoarthritis, rheumatism, tendinitis
  • Autoimmune diseases: Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn’s disease
  • Metabolic and weight-related issues: overweight, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol
  • Psychological and sleep-related issues: anxiety, chronic stress, sleep disorders, ADHD, burnout
